“Our Benny” and “Our Week!”

The children really enjoyed the performance of “Our Benny” at the the Empire Theatre on Thursday and they were a joy to be with, well done children!

Do you wonder what we get up to each week? well each day we start off with Sounds-Write and follow this with Literacy and Numeracy each morning. On Mondays we also have our guided reading session and on a Tuesday we visit a topic such as science, history etc. On a Wednesday we have ICT and SEAL along with show and tell, then on a Thursday we have Art and Design and R.E. By the time Friday afternoon comes we are ready for Celebration Assembly then Golden Time. What a busy week we have!

This Friday the children completed a Big Write on the performance of Our Benny and then the children followed instructions on how to make fairy cakes, each child decorating their own cake beautifully! Unfortunately, we were that engrossed in the activity we forgot to take photo’s for you to see!!! OOOPS!!

Caitlin!!! You thoroughly deserve to be our star this week Caitlin, well done!!

We have had some great comments left this last week or so, so keep it up everyone (that includes you Mr Ward and Miss Sinnott!) Teampoints will be awarded this week to those children from Y2 who leave a comment on the website…..Who will be first???

Y2 have had a whizz time this week learning about bonfire night and have managed to cross lots of areas of the curriculum. Have a peek in our classroom and look at the fabulous fireworks the children have created, also, the great pictures and poems.

We have been upto….

We have been learning a lot about tens and units and partitioning numbers then recombining them. We have also been learning about familiar stories and we have planned our very own story in our “Busy Book” ready to write it in our “Big Write” book. We have had lots of help from our friends Oliver Opener, Violet Vocabulary, Captain Connective and Punctuation Pete. We have also completed lots of science work, baked bread and made some fandabidozee Lambananas!

P.s. Guess who was spotted brushing up????? (photographic evidence Mrs Rafferty!!)

Our science topic “Health and Growth” turned out to be very interesting and interactive this afternoon! The children astounded Mrs Brankin and Mrs Davies with their knowledge of fruit, vegetables, carbohydrates (well done Joel for reading that big word!) and proteins. Mrs Brankin then astounded the class with her farmyard animal impersonations! Then the children joined in. Once Mrs Davies had picked herself up off the floor from laughter she managed to take a photo!
