A Busy Half Term
17 02 2007Literacy
During this half term we have learned all about instructional text, verbs, bossy verbs, adverbs and adjectives. We have written some great instructions and we even followed instructions and made our very own pizza after designing one on the computer during ICT. The pizzas all looked and tasted yummy! Thanks Beth for making a pizza for Kate who was unfortunately off school poorly sick!
We have also been learning all about “Traditional Tales.†What is a traditional tale, what do they begin with? How do they end? What characters do you find in a traditional tale? What is your favourite traditional tale?
On Thursday afternoons we also have a show and tell session. Don’t forget if it is your turn:
·Choose a topic that you can talk about for quite a long time.
· Prepare in advance; write little notes to act as prompts to help remind you of the things you need to tell or bring in plenty of things to show, which can then act as a prompt.
· Practice at home with Mummy, Daddy, Grandma or anybody who will listen and help!
Eleanor very kindly brought plenty of cakes and flapjacks in to school for her show and tell. They were delicious! Thank you Eleanor!
During this time we also have a prayer. Again, if it is your turn, don’t forget to practice at home so on the day you read it beautifully. Well done to Eve who recently did just that.
Numeracy
Where do we begin? We have learned about addition, subtraction, multiplication, estimation, difference, odd and even numbers, place value, times tables and simple math problems. Wow, no wonder the children were ready for a half term break!
Before half term we all said “Adios†to Callum and Mrs Brankin who were off to Madrid for the exchange visit. No doubt they had a wonderful time and will be full of tales to tell upon their return to school. Can’t wait!
See you next week!
