A Week In The Life of Y2

5 11 2006

The children returned to school after the half term nice and refreshed and ready for work.  We were especially delighted with the stories the children had completed for their homework. They made wonderful reading with fantastic illustrations.  Well done to all the children for all your hard work and effort.

We have completed lots of activities this week including coordination skills work on squared paper.  This is something Mrs Brankin observed when in Madrid.  It is really useful for fine motor skills and the children have worked very hard.  We have also continued with our Sounds-Write work too.

During numeracy we have been reviewing counting forward and backward in 1’s and 10’s and discussing odd and even numbers.  We have also reviewed adding 9,10 & 11 to a number.  Don’t forget to use your 100 square at home to practice!

The children finished decorating their “I am happy because….”  work and they have all been hung up in the classroom.  They are fabulous and the classroom looks very colourful!  The children also decorated their “feelings” peg and can indicate how they are feeling by putting their peg on the plate that best describes their feelings.  Bethany’s peg was on excited all day on Friday…..I wonder why?

We have also learned all about Guy Fawkes too.  Gosh, no wonder Y2 were so tired on Friday afternoon!

For homework this week we have given the children some spellings to learn.  As indicated on the letter the children will be tested on the first ten spellings at the end of next week and ten the following week etc. Good luck everyone!
